Meg

Newborn Care Specialist & Postpartum Doula

Meg is a Certified Child Life Specialist and Newborn Care Specialist. Her bachelors degree as a Child Life Specialist was attained from The University of Akron. Meg initially began nursing school with the goal of becoming a labor and delivery or pediatric oncology nurse. During her schooling, Meg’s then three -year- old son, Tyler, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This traumatic and life -changing diagnosis eventually lead her to the child life field, as she recognized what a difference a child life specialist in the hospital setting made for her son and her family as he endured many surgeries and hospitalizations related to his diagnosis. Tyler passed away at the age of 7 after courageously fighting his disease, and Meg returned to school to pursue her new passion.

Meg’s passion for children has been present since childhood, when she always knew she wanted to have children of her own. She began babysitting at the age of 13 and has worked with children in some degree ever since. Meg has several years of experience supporting children and families in the hospital setting. She previously worked in the daycare and preschool setting for a number of years while raising her own four children and attending college to earn her degree. Meg has also volunteered at various community organizations and hospitals providing support to children and families who have experienced traumatic events in their lives. In addition to working with families as a newborn care specialist, Meg currently works in the community setting as a service coordinator for the early intervention program in her county.

Meg recognizes the challenges that come with pregnancy, childbirth and raising a family. She understands that every child and every family is different and comes with their own unique challenges, strengths and needs. Meg utilizes her knowledge of child development, family systems, and newborn care training to provide support and encouragement to families with a new baby while nurturing and caring for the newborn as her role as NCS.

When not at work, Meg enjoys spending time with her husband, Jay, and her children Nathan, Bella and Sammi. She loves to run, read, cook and spend time outside, and especially enjoys finding time to visit the beach or ocean.
