Virtual Childbirth Education- What Does That Look Like?

Why do we need virtual childbirth education and what does it look like?  In-person birth classes in the Cleveland area have been canceled as many have around the US. As of today (4/7/2020) Cleveland hospitals are now limiting the birthing mother to one support person during labor, delivery and the postpartum stay. This is leaving many expectant parents feeling unprepared and anxious.

Nurtured Foundation has always been dedicated to supporting families. This is why we have worked on a way to still support families from a safe distance and to help prepare them for childbirth under the new hospital policies. Birth doula and childbirth educator, Ashley Rainey, is offering fully customized, virtual childbirth classes to arm you with all of the tools you need to feel prepared for a safe and positive birth experience for you and your birthing partner.

As hospital policies continue to change, Nurtured Foundation keeps up to date with each hospital system so we can prepare clients for these changes and offer suggestions on how to adapt and shift plans. We realize this is difficult and we are here to support and help you navigate these changes. The more information you have, the less anxious you will be.Birth has many unknowns, information and having a plan is empowering!

We are offering a private one-on-one virtual childbirth education class through Zoom that will be broken down into (2) one hour sessions, scheduled at your convenience.Ashley is also offering a follow up with you and your birth partner for a 30 minute Q&A session or refresher anytime before your due date.

Topics that will include in the virtual childbirth education class:

  • Packing your hospital bag

  • The ever changing hospital policies due to pandemic procedures, keeping you up to date.

  • Helping you identify your birth preferences and options

  • Identifying the early signs of labor and how to manage them at home as long as possible

  • Early labor, active labor and pushing-all the stages, what to expect and how to cope

  • Pain management options and intervention choices you will be offered

  • Comfort measures and all the ways your birth partner can support you during labor both physically and emotionally

As with all our classes, this virtual childbirth education class is fully customizable to you and your birth preferences. Before the class begins you will receive an intake form that will ask you many questions to guide Ashley as to what you are most interested in learning and your birth goals. With this information, Ashley will design a class just for you!
